Letting Go Of Outcomes

The Power of Letting Go

The world we live in has so many unknowns, and this has meant that we have to live with uncertainty. Nothing here is permanent; we don’t know how long we get to be here or what the future is going to look like.

All this creates a lot of chaos in our minds because it likes to know. Like a supercomputer, it is always learning about life and banking memories for when similar experiences appear, and then it can inform us of what to do when X happens. This can be good for safety purposes but not always conducive if we are to evolve beyond our past limitations.

For example, if you were scared as a child by a fluffy toy that looked like a snake and now you can’t be near anything that looks remotely like a snake, then your mind is restricting your ability to experience life fully. You will always be on high alert around these types of situations and it really takes letting go of your fears to see past the programming of this childhood trauma.

Hypnosis is a great tool for releasing these types of traumas because you go into a hypnotic state knowing you are supported by an experienced hypnotist who can guide you toward seeing the truth and reframing the situation so it no longer paralyzes you.

Letting go is a remarkably simple technique which can have profound impacts on our lives. When we stop trying to control everything, we allow ourselves to flow with the universe and things become easier to navigate.

I see this in my own life all the time; when I try to figure things out too far in advance and spend too much energy planning, I miss out on the present moment. Plus, most of my plans never go as I envisage, so I have to adapt to the ever-changing situations that undoubtedly show up for me.

The Magic of Living in the Present Moment

Right now, I am writing on Substack and some days I don’t know what to write about, so I just go with the flow. It doesn’t always work out, but at least I am creating, and that feels good. Plus, with each post, I am learning and new ideas are starting to emerge. Had I let my mind plan too far into the future, I probably would not be writing anything here at all because my perfectionism would take over, and no article would meet my high expectations. This is the magic of living in the moment.

Learning from Spiritual Leaders

The idea of letting go is really about living in the present moment. We have great teachers like Eckhart Tolle who wrote the book ‘The Power of Now’. He transformed his life by letting go and living in the moment. If you have ever watched one of his YouTube lectures, you will see how present he is and how slowly he allows ideas to surface and rise up to answer specific questions from the audience. He is quite funny too with his quirky way of seeing things, and his laugh is infectious. He isn’t for everyone, but he is a great example of someone who has devoted his life to being present.

I have studied many great leaders of consciousness like Dr. Bruce Lipton, Dr. Joe Dispenza, Dr. Wayne Dyer, Deepak Chopra, and some not-so-famous individuals who have a following on social media like Tom Barnett and Beth Martens. I allow all their ideas to flow over me, and I take what resonates, leaving the rest.

Navigating the Information Overload

We are all individuals, and we all think slightly differently. You don’t need to attach yourself to any one person or idea. You are you, and what comes into your awareness is for your intelligence to absorb and sift through the vast well of mass information.

We are bombarded today with advertising and marketing on all the social media platforms. We are constantly sold lots of products and services. There is so much data coming at us; it can be hard to switch off and unplug from it all. It’s the collective expanding with many creative ideas and pitching for your attention on a daily basis. I too am here putting my ideas forward and adding to the mix. What you choose to do with this information is entirely up to you.

Embracing Change and Letting Go

At 50, I have finally allowed myself to let go and stop controlling everything. I had a controlled upbringing, and we do tend to adapt to the way we were raised. You may not want to be like your parents, but unconsciously we do mirror some of their traits, and it can take a lifetime to break free from them. If we are able to consciously awaken from them. It can be hard to see when you are the one living in the bubble of your perception. Often it takes others outside of you to reflect back what patterns you need to change.

Finding Calm in Nature

When you walk into nature, you feel a sense of calm and how life is just going with the flow. The birds just know when spring has arrived, and they start getting everything ready for nesting and feeding their soon-to-arrive baby chicks. You don’t see them planning ahead of time and hoarding wood in areas over the winter ready for the spring; they just live in the present moment and adapt to the environment as it signals to them when the time has arrived to start nesting.

Adapting to Life’s Seasons

We consciously know of the seasons, but they do change each year. Right now we have had a long winter, and the spring has been very cold and wet, which is unusual for this time of year. However, this is what is presenting itself to us, so we must adapt, put on warmer clothing, and try to stay optimistic when the sky is often grey. We have to trust all will change in due course, so don’t suffer for suffering’s sake; find a happy place inside yourself and make the present moment work for you. Let go of any perceived outcome, as here you can sense the mind has expectations and just because life isn’t showing up as it expects, it can make you feel down.

Releasing Control and Embracing the Present Moment

Letting go is really about letting your thoughts go, the ones that have piled up inside your head with all these ideas and perceived outcomes. We can never know, as I said at the start of this post, what is around the corner. The only sure thing is the NOW, and this is where we can open our awareness to find a deeper intuitive guide. The guide when we were a child, open and optimistic, curious about life and open to the newness of life.

Letting go for YOU

Take this opportunity to assess where in your life you could begin to release control and start allowing situations to arise with an unattached presence. Begin to let life guide you instead of you trying to guide life. Try it out for a day or two and see what transpires for you. I’d love to hear back if you have any insights you would like to share in the comments below.
