Tree of Life

Dipping into the oracle of consciousness

A tree is deeply rooted in the heart of the earth. The roots expand deep into the undergrowth where fungi reside acting as a conduit for trees to communicate with each other. Check out Fantastic Fungi for a real deep dive into the magic of mushrooms.

Trees are known for their longevity and wisdom because they have been around since time began. There are people like the YouTuber Mike Wilkeron (Stellium7) who have delved into the possibility of ‘Giant Trees’. Check out his channel Stellium7 and watch the video on ‘The Great Trees Were Real….Here’s Proof!’ Decide for yourself on whether it feels true but it certainly expands your consciousness and unhinges some of the things we have been taught. I am pretty open-minded and so will listen to these ideas but stay open to other theories/possibilities that may debunk or shed new light. Nothing is permanent on this planet and that goes for information too.

Okay let’s get back to trees. I have spent my whole life around them. I grew up in the countryside and remember spending lots of time as a child in the garden and going out for long forest walks with my family. It was a calming time being in nature and to this day this is where I go to destress. Trees bring a sense of grounding to my life, as they are reliable in a way that humans cannot be.

When the wind hits their leaves the rustling sound is so comforting and soothing to my mind. It’s as if I don’t need to talk or think as the trees just know from my energy what is going on inside of me. It’s as though trees help the earth understand what is going on at the surface level because they seem to reach up to the skies absorb the sunlight and then bring it down into the soil and to the depth of our sacred planet’s core.

The stillness of their being has such grace and elegance which is why I believe they are so wise. They remain in place for long periods of time connecting with everything around us. The birds nest in them, monkeys use their branches as transport links, and insects live in their bark and eat at their sap. They have a lot to deal with and sadly many are chopped down, used as either fuel or for building things and creating a refuge for mankind. They are multifaceted and of huge importance to our life here on earth.

We breathe out carbon dioxide and they give us oxygen, so they gift us the breath of life. Their leaves take in the carbon dioxide, sunlight, and water and turn them into sugars to feed on which then emits oxygen the process known as Photosynthesis.

We are in a symbiotic relationship with trees and when we walk amongst them a sacred union is formed. It is like walking into a church but without all the religious doctrines. If you remain present in this place you will feel held, you will feel loved and a deep sense of divinity will wash over you. It is a magical and wonderful experience to witness and I hope that you have experienced this union at least once in your lifetime.

I have had the amazing experience of travelling to Vancouver Canada and walking amongst the trees at Stanley Park. Plus, I took a detour over to Vancouver Island which is home to some of the largest trees on the planet. Another amazing place I got to visit was Waipoua on New Zealand’s North Island where I got to see Tane Mahuta also known as ‘God of the Forest’, a giant kauri tree that has left its mark on my heart. The sun was shining down on it that day and it just felt so magical and spiritual. I will never forget that moment and if you ever get the chance to visit then please go see it, you won’t be disappointed. This is where you really will feel the energy of a tree’s life force.

Another amazing encounter I had with trees was during my visit to Mexico at the pyramid of Chichen Itza. I felt the energy was very chaotic at this site, tourists were rushing around and some of the trees were growing away from the surrounding Mayan Ruins as if showing me that something was causing them pain. I felt the need to write the word ‘Freedom’ in the sand as it wasn’t a peaceful place and it needed some kind of freeing energy.

Then I went to the Mayan Temple of the God of Winds in Tulum and it was a different experience, very tranquil and the birds were flying blissfully amongst the ruins. Beautiful palm trees were growing around the shoreline and here I felt a deep sense of peace which was a total contrast to what I had felt at Chichen Itza. Two very different experiences and the trees were also showing me physically two very different energies.

There is a lot we don’t understand about how this world works. Trees are silent but connected in ways far beyond the realm of mind. We must move out of thinking and into feeling to really connect. I believe it is from the heart centre where we can plug into these divine mystical networks branching themselves all over the planet. If we are still enough and detached from our thinking minds (which I know is very difficult) then we can open up to new neural pathways and insights of understanding ourselves and the function we play in the expansion of the universe.

We have never answered the question; Why are we here? Could trees hold the answer or is this answer is never to be known? If we plug into nature like in the movie Avatar but without a physical connector instead we use an invisible force like in Star Wars, then we can expand away from all the unnecessary suffering and into a far more harmonious and collaborative place with our planet. I think trees can teach us far more about ourselves than we could ever comprehend with our thoughts.

Next time you pass a tree give yourself time to connect and see what unfolds for you. They are messengers, healers and supporters for our journey here on earth. The tree is here gifting you life and so let’s all celebrate that fact and keep on breathing in and out in divine union with them.
